Children’s Ministry
Here at First Baptist Church we believe that our children are valuable. Investing in their spiritual and physical development is not only important, it is vital. A relationship with Jesus is foundational, followed by relationships with others. We, therefore, seek to instill through our children ministry six primary truths. The first three truths are foundational and are our focus during the earlier childhood stages, birth to four-years old.
These truths are:
(1) God loves me,
(2) God made me, and
(3) Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
The next three truths build upon this foundation and are our emphasis during the school years, kindergarten through fifth grade.
These truths are:
(1) Treat others as you want to be treated,
(2) Make wise choices, and
(3) I can trust God no matter what.
Our desire is to partner with the parents to create opportunities of growth for every child. We do this through what we call ORANGE. Orange is a color made up of two colors, red and yellow. Red represents the love and influence of the parents. Yellow represents the light of Jesus and His church. Together they make up the color orange.
FBC believe that the spiritual formation of every child is most effective when in the context of family and church. Our goal is to not only bring the children into a knowing and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, but also to equip the parents to teach and lead out in that relationship. Parents have the wonderful blessing as well as responsibility of teaching and leading their children in their walk with Jesus.
Parents have many more opportunities to teach and lead their children throughout every week. Our passion is to come along side the parents to inspire, equip and encourage them to better achieve their God-given responsibility, to “train a child in the way he should go.” (Proverbs 22:6)
